Site Plan Application Receives Approval for Essex Housing Project

HOPE Partnership is excited to announce that our site plan application for The Lofts at Spencer's Corner to the Essex Zoning Commission was unanimously approved at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 16th.

HOPE will continue to work closely with the Town of Essex to advance the goal of affordable housing for more of our neighbors.

The project in the Town of Essex will be known as The Lofts at Spencer’s Corner. A three story, commercial condo complex in the village of Centerbrook, Spencer’s Corner has many vacancies which provided an opportunity for HOPE to work with unit owners. HOPE is planning to renovate 15 existing condo units into 17 units of housing. Plans include 1,2, and 3 bedroom units on the second and third floors with the majority of the rents set as affordable to a range of incomes. Septic, environmental, marketing studies have all been completed on the site with favorable results.

HOPE is also working on funding with the Department of Housing and we are “hopeful” to receive more good news in the coming months!
