There is a valuable resource for first-time home buyers and it’s right here in our state. The Housing Development Fund provides lending and home ownership counseling services to the entire state of Connecticut. The Statewide Downpayment Assistance Program (DAP), as the name implies, is a low-cost down payment assistance program for eligible home buyers. The program offers loans of up to $15,000 – 25,000 for buyers across the state of CT. Note that the program is available to first-time home buyers, and income must by less than 100% area median income.
Home buyer education is a strong component of HDF and participants in DAP must complete an 8-hr Home Buyer Education Class prior to closing. Conveniently, these classes are offered both in-person and online.
